Thirty concerts, dance performances, and sound installations, in thirteen spaces around Kollwitzplatz, unfurl over the course of six hours Saturday night, organized by the inventive Berlin-based new music group Kammerensemble.

Mangamania

Last chance to get a look at this fascinating exhibition that showcases a history of that pivotal element of Japanese pop culture known as Manga. The show traces its evolution from 19th century Ukiyo-e woodcuts, to the phenomenon it grew into.

Jungle Night at Hagenbeck Zoo

Alles Im Fluss

A panorama of the Elbe’s myriad personalities is revealed in this exhibition of paintings and photographs. A 19th century oil work by Johan J. Faber portrays a peaceful afternoon of steamboats and sailboats journeying gently downstream, while Ulrike Pfeiffer’s 2006 photograph “Queen Mary II” shows a choppy sea, and sunlit sky, full of drama.

Night of the Bars

You’ve heard of Night of the Museums, an evening of art and culture popular among many German cities. Hannover takes the concept one step further by swapping museums out with bars, and artwork for cocktails. Eight spots, from Harry’s New York Bar, to Pier 51, offer one free drink with your ticket. Non-alcoholic libations are available for the drivers, but with the free shuttle service, who needs them?

Nathalie Djurberg

The Swedish artist makes films that slowly digress from scenes of innocence to brutality. She creates her characters out of plasticine, and gives them sardonic personalities. Paired with Hans Berg’s unnerving soundtracks, the films, including seven shown at Base 103 starting Monday, are extraordinarily repulsive.
