Man apprehended following Gothenburg shooting

A man has been arrested in Gothenburg on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in the Angered area of the city on Friday evening.

Police received a call at 8.22pm on Friday evening notifying them that four people had been shot in Lövgärdet, near Angered. The police responded by sending a large number of officers to the area. They were accompanied by four ambulances.

One injured man was found near a football pitch in the Gothenburg suburb. He had been been shot in both legs. Police also found several empty shells and several cars that had been damaged by bullets.

The man was taken to Sahlgrenska hospital in an ambulance and is reported to be recovering well. The man’s injuries are not considered to be serious.

Several witnesses confirmed to police on Friday evening that four people had been shot although there was no sign of the other three.

Up to 15 police patrols became involved in the case during the evening and a helicopter was deployed.

By Saturday morning police had been unable to locate any of the other injured parties.
