Abused girl awarded 200,000 kronor

A girl who lived with her violent and sexually abusive father for six years is to be awarded damages of 200,000 kronor ($33,000) by Vetlanda council in southern Sweden.

The sum was agreed on in an out of court settlement between Vetlanda council and the girl’s legal representative, the council said in a statement.

The ‘Louise’ case received widespread national attention following an investigative programme broadcast by Sveriges Television.

Social services in Vetlanda came in for fierce criticism for not taking action despite repeated reports of abuse.
