Alliance parties close in on opposition

The governing four party Alliance is closing in on the opposition, a new voter poll shows.

According to a new poll by Skop the opposition, consisting of the Social Democrats, Green Party and Left Party, has the support of 49.5 percent of voters. The governing Alliance, headed by Fredrik Reinfeldt’s Moderate Party, polled 44.5 percent.

Support for the opposition has declined by 2.6 percent since Skop’s last poll in January whereas support for the government parties has increased by 0.1 percent.

The Social Democrats remain the largest party with 38.8 percent, down 1.9 percentage points since January. The Moderates polled 24.3 percent (+0.8), the Centre Party 7.5 (+0.8), the Folk Party 7.0 (-1.8), the Green Party 6.3 (+0.3), the Christian Democrats 5.7 (+0.3) and the Left Party 4.4 (-1.0).

The far-right Sweden Democrats gained 0.4 percentage points and currently have the support of 3.2 percent of voters.

1,000 people were interviewed by Skop between March 1st and April 4th and were asked for their favourite party.
