More snow and ice for Sweden’s roads

Sweden’s weather service is warning drivers returning home from Easter holiday to watch for treacherous road conditions, especially in Halland county on Sweden’s west coast.

Police are also advising drivers to beware of extremely slippery roads in the Stockholm area.

“It’s extremely dangerous,” said police spokesperson Ann-Charlotte Wejnäs to the TT news agency.

“We’ve issued a low level warning for Halland and parts of Småland, which have 10-15 centimetres of snow coming their way,” said Lisa Frost of SMHI, Sweden’s national weather service.

The light snow which fell over Sweden’s east coast on Monday morning is expected to strengthen throughout the day.

“It may cause traffic problems during the day,” said Frost.

Northern parts of Sweden can expect mostly dry and clear conditions with sunny weather, with clouds appearing overnight into Tuesday and possible snow showers in southern Norrland county.
