Man turns off fire truck to ‘save environment’

An environmentally conscious resident of Essen, Germany turned the engine of a fire truck off during an emergency call. The man turned the car off because he disapproved of the idling truck's wasteful fumes.

The fire men had intentionally left the truck idling to provide power for radio, fax and telephone service in the vehicle. The man’s earth-friendly actions did not have major consequences, but the reason for their call turned out to be rather serious.

A bulldozer driver tipped over in his earthmover, then apparently tried to right the machine using a second bulldozer. The fire department told reporters the man was seriously injured in the accident.
