Sentence upheld in Strömstad murder

The Court of Appeals for Western Sweden upheld Wednesday the Uddevalla district court sentence of ten years in prison and lifetime deportation for the man who beat a woman to death with a wooden plank in Strömstad last summer.

Sentence upheld in Strömstad murder

The woman, who was 39-years-old, met the 24-year-old man during a night out during a vacation in Strömstad, a tourist destination on Sweden’s west coast.

After a night filled with dancing, the pair then made their way to an isolated, dimly lit alley.

The woman was found dead in the alley the following morning, having been beaten with a wooden plank found near her body.

The man admitted that he hit the woman repeatedly in the head with the plank, but denied he intended to kill her.
