Germany’s first Apple store to open in Munich

Computer giant Apple is to open its first store in Germany, the company has announced. A link on Apple’s homepage put an end to speculation over the company’s plans for Germany by announcing plans to open the republic’s first Apple store in Munich. Apple is also looking for store employees over the Internet.

“Yes, Munich will be the first location for an Apple-Store in Germany,” Apple spokesman Georg Albrecht told the Berliner Morgenpost on Friday. The store will not be far from Marienplatz and will be housed in a new two-storey building. Apple also has its German headquarters in Munich.

Until now, Apple has sold its products in Germany over the Internet or through licensed resellers. There are 13 Apple stores in the UK, two in Switzerland and one in Rome. More German stores will follow the Munich stores, but the next location is a matter of speculation.
