The two boys, aged 16 and 17, are suspected of assaulting two other boys, as well as a girl with whom one of the boys had a previous relationship in the Södermalm district of Stockholm, Aftonbladet reports.
The boys were released after the trial on Monday pending the enforcement of the district court verdict, which generally takes place three weeks after a judgment has been announced in a Swedish criminal case.
“They were convicted on Monday and just a few days later they are involved in another assault. It’s quite remarkable,” police spokesman Torbjörn Nilsson told the newspaper.
The three alleged victims of the attack told police that the girl in their party had received a slap while the boys were kicked and punched.
Both of the accused deny the accusations. One boy, a 16-year-old found guilty on Monday of incitement to commit assault, claimed via his lawyer to have been held at knife point and knocked to the ground.
The other boys has also pleaded his innocence. He was convicted in the Campogiani case of serious assault and manslaughter and sentenced to three years’ youth detention.
The violent circumstances of Campogiani’s death led to nationwide protests against street violence in the weeks following the killing.
Three boys were convicted this week of killing the Stockholm teenager in an attack outside a Kungsholmen party venue last autumn.
The trio, all of whom were sixteen at the time of the killing last October, were found guilty of serious assault and manslaughter and sentenced to three years’ youth detention. A fourth boy was cleared of all charges. A fifth boy was convicted of incitement to commit assault and was sentenced to serve a period in youth detention.
