Fossmo was a leading member of a pentecostalist sect in the village of Knutby, near Uppsala.
He was re-questioned by police earlier this year after claiming to have new information about the killing. He said he would admit his own involvement and claimed that he had information pointing to others’ involvement.
Uppsala police said at the time that the information given by Fossmo was insufficient to warrant launching a new investigation. His lawyer, Peter Althin, said on Thursday that he plans to make a formal request for the decision to be overturned.
