The Social Democrats’ party hall started emptying fast straight after the results became clear. Supporters were sitting at tables sipping on the last few swigs of beer.
“The Moderates were right strategically to focus on unemployment,” said Ardalan Shekarabi, the 27-year-old former chairman of the young Social Democrats.
“Yes, it is a big disappointment,” said 34-year-old Daniel Färm of Stockholm. “We have to work hard and construct a strong opposition party. Things will go forward.”
